Hi All
I hope you can help with a laptop I have in for repair, as I can't seem to diagnose the problem.
It is a HP Pavilion with XP Home on, 512Mb, AMD Athlon64 & 150Gb HDD.
The problem is that it will suddenly just turn itself off whilst running Windows. I have checked for over-heating CPU, RAM faults, HDD errors but everything checks out fine. All vents are free from dust and power supply is constant, although the battery is shot. The fault occurs with or without the battery.
I have run a Linux Live CD and that seemed to be stable. Is it XP causing the problem? I have never come across this problem before, and any help or guidance offered will be much appreciated.
Thanks
Pete
