HP Partsurfer results

  • Press the power button and the display flashes on (pure white) and off.
  • The power light flashes amber and white without end and without a particular pattern.
  • Cannot turn off the computer with the power button.
  • Tried an external monitor via HDMI.
  • Fan doesn't start.
  • Universal charger and running on battery doesn't help.

Thinking it could use a motherboard.

HP Partsurfer offers two parts: MOTHERBOARD UMA i5-1135G7 (part M16464-001) and the same thing with "WIN" at the end (part M16464-601). Not sure which to choose.

$215 just for a used mobo. Ugh.

All that for a $500 laptop. https://www.walmart.com/ip/HP-15-6-...ndows-11-Natural-Silver-15-dy2152wm/497014617

Is it still under warranty by chance?
I can't think of anything that Wally World sells that's worthy of repair. Several years ago a neighbor bought a $250 dollar WW special. W10, Celeron, 4gb RAM, 5400rpm spindle. Asked me what she can do to make it go faster. "Buy a real computer". She wasn't very pleased with the response. Her daughter just stopped using it.

Sad, but true.

It's interesting to see how many people will go to great lengths to try to keep garbage alive, or even keep what wasn't garbage, but is now woefully obsolete alive.

As I just commented to one of your posts on another topic: Going with the flow is not optional.

There is a time to let go of anything, and when "not economically feasible to repair" rears its ugly head that's the time!
