Hey guys, I need a second opinion on this one. I have a HP DV7-6157cl that seemingly has a motherboard issue. The laptop itself will not power on when the power button it pressed, no lights, no nothing. However, when the AC adapator is plugged in, the power light will light and will charge the battery.

I've tried a hard reset, i've resetted the hd, ram, and bios battery.

The AC adapter does check out as well.

I'm leaning to towards the motherboard, what do you guys think?

Sounds like the motherboard to me.

Im sure you have, if you have tried plugging it in and no battery, and still no go, then more than likely the motherboard.

I did have a crazy DV series, I ordered 3 motherboards because everything added up to that, all had the same syptoms, narrowed it down to the cable for the LCD panel, but couldnt test theory because the customer was tired of waiting for the fix.

I know there is a power button board on these laptops but I'm not entirely sure how to test the button without replacing that board.

I'm not sure on that exact one, is the button on the motherboard, or does it attach with a ribbon cable??? If its a cable, you can short the pins where the ribbon goes on to the motherboard.
