Just wondered how everyones doing, Ive had quite a slow month, alot of people are away coz its school holidays..so thats what im blaming it on

Anyone else experiencing a drought?

Business has been picking up for me both in terms of dc jack repair referrals and word of mouth since I haven't advertised yet. Quite happy. :):)

Mine is slow as well. But its been the summer time so everyone is on vacation and stuff.. Things should pickup next month ... I hope :)

The first week of August was my best but the rest of the month has been really slow.

Was very busy until this last week. It slowed down but now picking up again. Adwords tend to piss me off from time to time and it really does effect my business but after twicking it goes back up.

It's been pretty good for me, but then again I don't lie about my credentials.

Sorry Jay, I have no sympathy for you. You have lied about your qualifications and experience to try and steal business from legitimate Techs, yet you expect us to help you when your business falters. Unless you do as you promised much earlier to do and correct the 'errors' on your website, expect things to get tougher.

Personally, I have no problem in seeing crooks fail.

I had a crazy June and July, August was a bit better than average, but since I am moving into my new location on Wed, I am ok with a bit of downtime. I guess since I haven't opened a second location before, I didn't realize how much work it would be!

I was quiet in July and first half of August. In the past two weeks I have made more money than I have in July and the first part of August put together. Been working 12-14 hour days and not leaving clients till 10pm and then working on machines till 3:00am.

Got four computers on the bench, got a few more quieries but won't ring them back until tomorrow as I just cannot cope at the moment.

Historically August has been a slow month for me. I'm in a very seasonal area and August is typically slow across the board. I typically don't like doing too much residential work these days, but heading into October & November the snowbirds (as we call them) start to come down to FL & residential business picks up.

By the way, when I retire I'm moving north and driving slow :p

Gave me a good laugh. I'm in western North Carolina, and we get your snowbirds for the summer. We pick up in May, and slow down again around October, when they head back to you. Always wondered what it was like on the other side, but too stuck in my ways to move to Florida. :)

ive been busy, had alot of headache problems this past week and my intern went back to school. Had alot of subcontracting jobs calling too, I hope it stays like this :)

August should be a very busy month for everyone as parents scatter to either buy new comps, laptops or repair existing ones so their child doesn't go to school without a working computer.

Business has been pretty good for us. It's picked up here towards the end of the month, that's for sure. I am very optimistic about September from what I've seen in the past week.

Slow on my end too. It's that time of year. I'm hopeful that things will change and pick up as a new school year starts and people are home from vacation, traveling, etc.

I don't sell computers. I don't advertise upgrades either, but if I am asked about it, or I see it needs it in a repair, I'll offer it. I don't stock an inventory except the basics, so I'm not really in a position to offer them. Besides, I can't afford to offer the warranty service on them. Too little profit, too much headache, and too much of my time devoted to other parts of my business. I've worked in a few small shops that sold computers, and it was a constant headache dealing witch customers that want a call for every simple thing, like changing wallpaper.....

School hasn't started here yet. Starts next Tuesday. I have been told by numerous local businesses that they are slow right now. I'm in a low income area and right now, people are more concerned with getting new school clothes and supplies, last minute before school starts. I expect to pick up within a week or two after school starts. Although, I'm seeing a slight pick up this week as compared to last.

First three weeks of August were VERY busy. It has slowed down in the past 7 days though. Looking for things to pick up this week and beyond.

I agree with neuron, the headaches of warranties ie for a failed hard drive are tremendous, My suppliers now have come up with a handling fee of 10% for exchanges if the hardware goes faulty under warranty, I was thinking of adding a percentage aswell like say 5%

Neuron what parts do you stock, you said just the basics, is that like CD Drives, Hard Disks and the like.

I dont stock anything either everything is ordered, I have PSU's, DVD Writers Memory and Hard Disks as I find these are the most common replacement parts.

The most common Component I replace are 2.5 SATA Laptop Hard Disks
