Hi, I have never had the request to do this before so I was wondering what may be the best way to do it. Its a XP thinkpad, I doing a clean reinstall, then I will make a image and somehow make a recovery partition that can be accessed on boot. Info appreciated!!

If its a personal XP computer I have used Easeus todo backup to make the image and you can burn a rescue disk. I use Acronis Disk Director to make the partition. May not be that fancy but works.

Thanks! but now he wants a bootable recovery dvd image instead of a partition, you know which program does that best?

Sometimes what they want and what they get are 2 different things lol. He wants it all on dvd? Does he not realize those burned dvds could potentially corrupt or get warped etc?

Thats what he wants, its only 6 gb, 2 dvds but I'm having a hard time finding a imaging prgm that will even save images to bootable dvd's, ideas?

Nevermind, I found a old acronis true image 2010 boot cd that did the backup to dvd perfectly. I should add after creating the dvd image before rebooting you have to go into acronis tools and create a f11 recovery option or the dvd won't boot to recover.

What about an 8GB Flash drive?

Sounds like Acronis did everything you needed.

Good program, I've used it many time for the same purpose.

Remember , the F11 recovery option will over write original MBR.

Are you sure i looked at the product it does not mention that feature?
