How much are you guys getting your ...

Newegg constantly puts them on sale. Right now newegg has copies of windows 8 pro 64 bit for $70? or $80

As far as people pushing out illegal "winders". I'd just call and anonymously report them. For their customers sake, and yours. They probably aren't save much if anything for having these versions of winders installed. If it were me, I'd be reporting them.

I haven't had to report anyone, so have a contact?

Guys. If the concern is that copies of Windows from the link I posted don't validate and stay that way, they have and they do. I personally have never had a bit of trouble with them. They even sent me Pro versions for free when they ran out of Home.

The problem isn't with them validating or staying that way, the problem is the licensing terms that these operating systems were sold under do not permit this type of usage. This media was meant to be sold with a Dell, HP or other OEM brand of machine. It was sold to them to be used on their systems.

I'm pretty sure that Dell or any other OEM isn't officially supporting this, as if they were it'd be right on their website and not sold like this.

It's not legal, it violates the TOS this license was originally sold under. Wouldn't touch it.

I was only having this discussion with one of my techs today. It happens alot round here too. It probably gets to me more that it should , but its really one thing that pi$$es me off.

We had a PC in today which had a COA on the side and some douchebag pizza tech had loaded a VLK copy of XP on. The customer brings it to us after it got flagged non gen wondering why as they had a legit key on the side of their PC.

people who go to those douches deserve it, they should be smarter and realize that you need to get windows from a retail store not a guy in a basement selling a copied dvd r

i have 0 sympathy for those

Many people aren't even aware of the issue. I can sell perfectly legal copies of windows from my home, store or otherwise. I'm assuming this guy is performing the installations and not providing any media at all.

didnt there used to be those 3 pack of windows 7 deals going around

Newegg sells them from time to time.

The only 3 pack of Windows 7 I know of are the Microsoft Registered Refurber packs?

Dom

Here in AU you can buy 3 packs of OEM Win 7, but you tend not to save anything and it literally is 3 singles boxed together.

Not sure if thats what he was refering to though.
