Hello everybody,

How do you decide on a business name?
I am really stuck on this, maybe you guys can offer suggestion?

Thanks
Erik

erikstar pc repairs. :D

If your not happy with that (& I doubt you aren't), then look at incorporating your town/county/state name into the title for starters.

What I have learnt though is the company name as not as important as the service you provide.

Just remember one thing, you are gonna need to say your company name lots (answering the phone etc) so make it something that rolls of the tongue nicely. :)

Having raised many computers from the dead, the Biblical story came to mind, hence my business name. People either really like it, or don't know the reference.

For yours, when I see "Erik" spelled that way, I think "Viking" - how about Viking Tech, or something along those lines, if it's available? Easily remembered, rolls right off the tongue, and would make for a very nice logo, if you found the right artist.

Good luck!

Of course, make sure it's nothing too close to the name of the famous memory manufacturer.

E-PC Repairs. I think that name might narrow his market. Unless he likes only working on ASUS netbooks.

My last name is White and I wanted to use that as a business name but I figured it would probably give people the wrong idea, :-(

I decided on CyberCPU Computer Repairs because I already owned the domains, lol. As said before the name does not mater much in fact sometimes a funny name get recognised easier.

I think there are two essential qualities that should be considered when choosing a business name of any kind.

1. Will customers easily remember it? Make your name an asset, not a liability.
2. When you are ready to retire or otherwise move on down the road, will someone be willing to pay additional money above & beyond the value of your customer list to own it? Make your name an asset, not a liability.

Who remembers "Bob Stephens PC Repair"? Or what would the value of "Nelson PC Repair" be, compared to what it actually became with a different name? (I know a bunch of you will know what I'm talking about here.)

Names like "<location> Computer Repair" have value, but they are also limiting. You can always register & make use of any number of those names without having them be your primary business name.

Someone here mentioned using "Viking" as part of the name - I like that. There's a connection to the spelling of your name, and if you're lucky enough to be in an area with lots of Norwegians and Scandahoovians, it just might POP.

You thinking of pirates not vikings.

Vikings would be something like

Always rise to an early meal,
but eat your fill before a feast.
If you're hungry you have no time to talk at the table.

Not sure how to get a computer slogan out of that. lol.

Thats the reason why I chose CP3Technologies...not to limit my services to just repairs. How bout ErikTechnologies or ErikTech.
