How do you answer the phone?

Quick and simple:

"Housecalls. Xander speaking."

People never hear the gap between the S and X so they think I'm saying 'Andrew' but I let that go until they book or try using it more than once. I'd like to say "Housecalls. I am Xander" to clarify the sounds but think that might sound pretentious.

Couldn't you say "Housecalls, this is Xander how may I help you?

I use "Hotfix Hotline you are on the Air!" not really, although I do on occasion to repeat customers

I usually answer with "Lair Computers this is Pete how may I help you?"

I always answer in a pleasant and inviting tone, with "Good (morning, afternoon, evening). Thank you for calling (company name). How may I help you?

First impressions are lasting impressions.

I think the best way, in my opinion is to answer by first cursing their mother and tell them to get a brain and learn to fix their own computer....Then again, I only fix my families and friends computers....for free.

Nah, I joke (not really...but yeah)

Something like...I said earlier in this topic.

Thank you for calling Nerds for Hire, This is Joseph speaking. How may I help you [IF CUSTOMER NAME = KNOWN, SAY CUSTOMER NAME]?

Insert sir or mam there, amazing how shocked people are when you address them by name...I guess since Caller ID was only created last week though people are still rather shocked. :D

Not everyone lives by themselves- you can say "How can I help you Mr. or Mrs. [Last name]"

I meant literally answer the phone and say "Hello, thank you for calling _________this is is _____, how may I help you sir or mam"?

Obviously the voice should tell ya, but it still can get a chuckle or a "Huh"? from the person. :D

Yeah, but the more I think of it- the "or" part sounds too...robotic? I'd think it's best to avoid "or" when referring to someone.

Familiar with sarcasm much? :p I wouldn't do it to anyone unless I know them really, but it does sound funny when people do it, one guy sang it, now that was a hilarious memory...:D
