How's business everyone? If it is going slow for you, have been able to come up with anything during your slow time?

I personally think being innovative and knowing how to adapt in this business is key while heading to success. I also believe that we have to learn how to apply lessons learned from our past failures to be successful as well.

Doing very well. Seeing at least two machines a day and typically one of them each day is a DC jack job, Monday to Friday. Saturdays are slower but we are only open for a half day then.

I really hope this keeps up, its so much better than last winter.

Two machines a day! Whoa! That's great news. I hope it keeps up for you as well. Do you have any help or are you working round the clock to get them out as fast as their coming in?

well it had been slow for about a month. then i received a call from a local automotive shop. when i showed up to the shop a rep from mitchell1 "an automotive shop management software" was there, he was impressed with my work and has already referred 20 new automotive shops to me. so its been a plus not only going to work on the shops pc but the mechanics have also brought business aswell.

I am doing it by myself. If things get a little overloaded I have local techs who I contract per day to come in and work. I actually have a pretty good relationship with several onsite techs and even though we are technically in competition we never go after each others clients.

Business has been so good we've stopped taking subcontract jobs even though we used to count on 2-3 a week. $40/hour is just not worth it, since we've hired a full time tech to do it and don't go on jobs ourselves, and focus on biz dev.

That's difficult to see in any market. I'm glad that things are working out between you and your techs/competitors

The first half of November was really slow. The second half was a complete turnaround. A lot of people getting new machines and wanting their data transferred over.

Ok, this first page has been quite encouraging. I'm glad biz is going good for everyone. I figure with these low price laptops, people will need service soon. Look for more business!!!

It's pretty crazy, the last dozen or more machines I have gotten have been laptops. I know laptops have to be selling more than desktops but I wonder what the ratio is.

Great thought! I wonder as well. I know I have 35 new clients in November and 6 were Desktops. That's less than 14% of them. Interesting thread.

Doing great here, much better than end of summer-ish - had a business client hire me for 9.5 hours straight - nice way to start the month! Especially being December.

We have had a lot of existing customers wanting to upgrade to Windows7 and have secured two pretty big network jobs for the New Year but we are down on the same period for last year. I definitely think things are looking good for a Xmas rush. :)

Had an excellent November, my best month since starting. I was quite shocked by how much too.

I'm just praying it keeps up through December :)

My month was very slow- that "stress test" killed me too.

I think a total of 14 customers in all this month- mostly virus removals, 3 laptop jacks, 1 laptop screen, and 1 data recovery (I enjoyed that one since it was my first time doing it for pay!)

Great to see so many of you doing well. I have nothing to compare things with, as I have only been running my part time business for 2 months now. I only do this part time as I love my day job as a developer too much to give it up. However I have been averaging 3-4 a week, mainly Malware removal and fixing errors.
