Evening,

Just wondering what software you would recommend for a basic incremental backup from a laptop to an external hard drive simply one laptop.

I have used and recommended Acronis true image before but it is overkill for this application.

What ever you go with just be sure to schedule it to happen automatically.

Anything left to the end user to complete often doesn't get done

I had my folks running Crashplan Free to a system at my house, along with my laptops. With that going away I invested a few $$ in Cloudberrylab and a few $ a month into my AWS account for S3 storage. Currently I only have my father's laptop backing up, but I need to get a few more systems doing the same.

Assuming I just leave things as they are on S3 I'll probably end up at around $5-7/month on AWS, but I'm also going to be experimenting with some other storage options for "cool" storage instead. Part of the reason for this was to get some real-world experience with the software and doing encrypted backups with it because I want to move away from the Crashplan Enterprise we have been using.

You on nbn?? and it works??
No, no NBN here.
Next suburb over got FTTH before the Labour Government got ousted and the Liberal's decided that "using the existing copper was the way of the future!"
Some of my suburb have FTTN.

I have 30/5 Mbps Wireless from NuSkope. Been good so far especially the two weeks they were working on the tower I connect to and I was getting upwards of 80Mbps!
Got a nice surprise on Friday when my data limit was doubled to 500Gb at no extra charge.
Giddy thinking of how to use it!
