Total noob here with building a computer. And it shows by buying a case that wouldn't fit my graphics card. I want a case that looks great underneath my TV, but is built to play games on. I don't need anything too crazy, but here is what I bought so far:

GTX 750ti graphics card:
It's "low profile" in a sense that it is shorter length wise. I thought it would fit in a smaller case but I was mistaken. I'm keeping this card.

Silverstone Case. This I need to return.

Asus P8B75-M motherboard

Silverstone SFX form factor 450W power supply

I'm buying a Core i5 processor and have a harddrive to use in the meantime before I can buy a SSD. I basically just need advice on a decent looking case that would look good underneath my TV. It's a tight fit down there too.

Really???

It just struck me wrong that you are in the business of repairing computers and you admit your a total noob at building computers.

Well it was a little harsh on myself lol. I just rushed buying a case and didn't take into account measuring the size of the card. It was a dumb mistake.

I'm basically just asking for recommendations on a decent case for a HTPC. I just want to build a PC to play games but doesn't need to be high end. Thought it someone built one of these they would have a good recommendation.

Is this thread broke?

A few things Im seeing in your pics.

Your cabinet has an adjustable shelf. Pretty much anything will fit. If you like your silverstone case why not shop for a card that fits it instead of the other way around? Silverstone's are good cases.

If you can list the model of the card you bought and the case I would be happy to help further. But from what I see you are wide open on case selection. You just made an Oops and bought the wrong style card maybe?

And yes it's an adjustable case. I want to stick with the card because it will play the games I want it too, and I tend to stick with nvidia for some dumb reason. Just stubborn I guess.

Coffee I'm posting everything through tapatalk. Perhaps that is the problem?

Im real sorry. I dont mean to hijack the thread here or mess things up.

For some reason I would login like normal to the forum and then click on your post. It would show just your two beginning posts and thats it. I would also notice in the upper right that I was not logged in. If I click on new posts then it would show me as logged in.

I jumped my cache in Firefox and now things seem to be showing up correctly. Weird.

Ok, Im sorry about the weird postings.

Smashedpotatos is right. I have a mid tower case running mythtv by my TV. I could have gotten a nicer case but Im concerned about cooling and expandability. I just picked a black case that looks kinda generic and doesnt draw attention to itself. Then I can pretty much run anything in it that I want. Very little compatibility / cooling issues.

Hi, try "pcpartpicker com" you can find your card and it will give you a good list of comapatiable cases... there are a few htpc cases that will take your gtx 750.

Good luck =)

In my opinion, if you can live with it I would go with at least a mid size ATX.

I'll give you that a full tower ATX is a little large to be going where this machine will be going but those micro and mini cases are just god awful small. Heat accumulates and holds so much better, parts have to be so much smaller.. hard to get your hands in there and work on them. Just not for me at all.
