I have a sony pcg-71913L(VPCEH on the LCD bezel) that is dim. Its an LED screen - two test screens and a new cable, all dim. Ended up telling the customer its a bad board and gave him a discount on putting his hard drive in an enclosure for it.

I haven't messed around too much with replacing any motherboard fuses, but have seen it mentioned a few times around here. I'm looking to try it out on this as a test, and was wondering if anybody had any good websites, or where I can find information on identifying, testing, and replacing fuses on a motherboard, especially in situations like this where it won't power the backlight.

If this is a motherboard specific question, I can open it back up and get you a motherboard part number, but I already had it back together in case the customer wanted to take it and not let us keep it.

Thanks in advance.

Wow, what a video. I wonder if when this person was done with that repair that he checked the fuse with an ohm meter before re-assembling the unit?

Probably not. I thought the video would help with location and identification, the guys technique is not good. But thats true for 95% of the laptop repair videos out there.

Sometimes I watch one to see how to do a tear down of a machine I haven't worked on yet to see if there are any gotchas. So many of these people dont seem to have a clue as they rip the machine apart, some even break small parts on camera and just keep going.
