I have an external drive that got hit with a virus. I ran scans with both AVG and Malwarebytes to remove and confirm cleanliness of the drive. After running both and remove a couple infections, I shut everything down for the evening. The next morning, I booted my machine to start a backup image of the drive per the customer's request, however the drive would not come up. I checked disk management and it showed there as having no partition. I have run GetDataBack as a Quick Scan and tried to pull the files only to find that a decent amount would not recover even though they were listed in the results. I tried a much longer Systematic Scan only run into many errors. I am tempted to pick up Acronis Disk Director to see if I can recover the partition in hopes that it may help.

I have some experience with data recovery, but have not had to deal with a situation like this. Any suggestions on this before I make another move? Other programs, or setting suggestions?

Sounds like the partition table got damaged. You could check it out with Testdisk and see if that will rebuild the table for you.

If TestDisk does not help then OnTrack Easy Recovery or R-Studio might prove useful.

I have tried OnTrack but not TestDisk and R-Studio so I will give them a shot. I ran the default settings on GetDataBack again last night and this morning it seemed to have gotten a decent recovery so I am waiting on that to create an image before I proceed, just in case. The disturbing part is it currently says 19 hours left lol.
