[REQUEST] HDD Imaging Software

I've stopped re-selling MBAM because when it's time to renew the license, the only way to do so without losing any time on the existing license is for the user to buy it directly from MBAM. I have to disable the existing license to install a new one and MBAM support has confirmed that that will not preserve the unused license entitlement. To not lose paid-for protection, the customer has to wait until the license expires before I install a new license, which presents timing challenges. Given their licensing terms and unhelpful re-seller policies, it seems they don't really want to deal with re-sellers. Okay, I get the message. See ya'.

OP, I apologize for hijacking the thread.

I don't think it can be used in Windows like True Image
booting from CD's is getting more difficult.

Not being used within Windows is an advantage...

No risk of files in a state of flux, just a true bit for bit/byte for byte image...

IT's not pretty to look at in use, but, I've never had it fail me, including in multiboot/multipartition environments...

Thanks Larry for making mention of that important, technical statement.
Since I do person-to-person consulting for residential customers, there isn't an issue of my advising of MBAM's existence or where to download the excellent software. Also, the software is simple to use and straightforward thus allowing the residential user the ease in which to use it. But again, my business model is based on working with Residential not Commercial.

I also apologize as this is not part of the OP's topic. I'm open to continuing this on a dedicated thread or a conversation. :)

FWIW. I just used Clonezilla to move a Windows server to a new HDD a GParted - 500GB-->>1TB . 1 hour, no issues.

Was that source hard drive a bit tired and slow? 1 hour typically indicates a sick hard drive, or...unless you're going through the OS over USB connection or something. The cloning setup we use.....500 gig drives typically a 15 maybe 20 minute job. Or even <10 minutes on healthy source drives to SSD.

I use Parted Magic, which uses CloneZilla / DDRescue. It's rather reliable. I also have a copy of Paragon 15, which works well for different sized drives or P2V. I have not been doing so many drive clones lately though. I think it's because most systems are being migrated over to Windows 10 instead of repairing.

I just switched to Macrium Reflect. HD Clone Professional was producing unusable clones about 1/10 times and I was sick of it. The last straw was when I restored my image to an ASUS gaming desktop where the HDD was really hard to get out, and the image turned out to be screwed up. Wasted 40 minutes of my time. (It was one of these - http://www.microcenter.com/product/476923/ROG_GR8_II-T069Z_Mini_Gaming_Desktop_Computer)

I like this software, but at $799 for a tech license, it's pretty steep!

Pocket change for what it can do. I pirated it and used it for a week to make sure it could do everything I wanted and I just bought it a few days ago. HD Clone wasn't cheap either:

The old version worked perfectly. If I hadn't upgraded, I might not have had to switch to Macrium Reflect. But I was disgusted by HD Clone. It's obviously going down the toilet. You can tell just by comparing Macrium's website and Miray Software's website.

Macrium Reflect has been very reliable. ;)

I've been using it for about two (2) years
without a single failure.
