I'm just wondering what people use to protect their HDD from damage knocks drops etc. when they are stored on a shelf or cupboard etc. all i can find in the uk are sigle unit storage such as

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SISUN-PHX...190281?hash=item41a2fa5a09:g:JwgAAOSwFqJWlLX-

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/For-3-5-I...901722?hash=item1a0e969e9a:g:HZEAAOSwll1WzBdZ.

I do have a selection or hdd's new and second hand and laptop and desktop sizes.

I'd rasther not store them individually cased like the things above.

Just wondering whate everyone else does.

Thanks in advance

These work for me, although not for storing drives individually, as requested. I attached non-slip shelf liner in each bin to prevent the drives from sliding and crashing, the sound of which is enough to turn your stomach.

no thats great thats the sort of idea I was looking for thanks. will ry that when i get moved house and have the space to do that in my "workshop"

I kept a polystyrene holder for 20 drives a supplier sent. Go for one of these perhaps - high density storage:

i Would do that buti am a very small company working from home and i don't buy in bulk like that. the getprostorge looks good but expensive. and a lot of the stuff is available in america but shipping to the uk is expensive and tax etc.i have found these in the k though which should do for now.

That's a right-nice good looking setup, Larry. I may have to show this to the boss for future use (maybe?)

I think that's over-kill, unless you plan on transporting a bunch of drives in a vehicle over rough terrain. Perhaps your local computer retailer could donate the shipping containers they have left over from drives they receive in bulk. Failing that, those cardboard storage boxes would do fine. As a small home-based business, it's vital to keep overhead costs and operational expenses as low as possible in order to weather the ups and downs of the business. Over-spending on something that's not going to pay for itself is misguided, IMHO.

Your humble opinion is much appreciated
