Hi all,
So basically i have this leadtek winforce 7600gs 256mb gpu and it works fine in the original motherboard. However i fetched a spare motherboard and set it all up but the system wouldnt stay on unless the cpu power connector (4pin) was out, so clearly that motherboard was broke and no display.
So i picked up a gigabyte mobo and this one had a bent cpu pin, i straightened it out and fired it up but still no display so of course i assumed given it had a bent cpu pin it may have been faulty.
This time around i got a gigabyte mobo off ebay with some warranty... but same again, black screen. This mobo however had onboard vga so i can actually look into things. Its not detected in BIOS or device manager.. bios is set to run external pcie if detected or revert to vga.
So i put it back into the original motherboard and it works fine? Im starting to think the gigabyte mobo that had the bent cpu pin may have been fine all along and its something else.. but what?
Is there a tiny possibility that i have 2 mobos with faulty pcie ports.. possibly but its unlikely..
so there is one other thing thats lingering on my mind. The psu is 250w and the gpu recommends a 300w psu to run.. could it be that the original foxcomm mobo is sucking up less juice than the gigabytes so that its just about powering the gpu up?
