Someone working there probably had their password set to "password". Thats why I had it in quotes, it sounds like a nice way to say someone screwed up with their password.
Edit: Actually, now that I think of it, a staff members password was probably caught up in the LinkedIn or other recent breaches.
They didn't reset passwords. Whatever attacked the system appears to have caused password issues as there the first posting on this doesn't explain that they did anything to reset the database. Very odd.
It is possible that they saw a brute force attack which did result in some breaches do to poor end user password practices and responded by nuking the database. Thus avoiding the TeamViewer no response shame fest.
