I have been wanting this hot air station for months. I was getting really tired of my old radio shack iron. I saw this advertised on amazon some months ago and started investigating it. For those that are not familar with it, Its a hot air solder station with a solder gun on the right side. You can adjust the heat/ and air flow for doing surface mount work.

What peaked my interest in the beginning was someone mentioned on a forum that they are great for things like DC jacks - Which can be a pain sometimes. So, I pulled the trigger on it and waited for it to arrive from the east coast. I spent 92 bucks on it including shipping.

Today Im just too tired though to power it up! Ive had a long day. So, I unboxed it and just sit and look at it for now :D .

I cannot wait to play with my new toy!!!

Cool. Im so excited to use it Im now looking at breaking something (LOL).

I think its going to save alot of time and aggravation working on components.

My real secret desire is a BGA machine :D

Best Regards,

You should have said something. You could have borrowed my wife, she is full of hot air and its free! Well...kinda free.

Yah, I got one of those too. Now they are REALLY expensive! :)

What does that say about us that we get excited about something like this?

It says we are geeks. I swear, When friends from my hometown ask me what Im doing or whats "Going on in my life?" and I tell them I can see their eyes glaze over...:D

I have never used that brand, but I love my Pace MBT250 Rework Station.

I kind of partial to Pace as that was what I was taught on in the Military 30 years ago

This day and age you need something like yours or the Pace system to work on and PCB. The desoldering tool make the purchase price worth it all by it's self in my book. I have desoldered 200 pin through hole chips without any damage to the PCB or chip with Paces desoldering tool. I don't do BGA work so the real nice hot-air tools have never come into play much with me. I just use my hot-air tools for normal surface mount components.

So far the only thing is temps are in Celcius.

Have fired it up and it hasnt kicked a breaker :D, It ran very quiet even at high settings. Air flow is a bit less than what I thought it would do. I think this is going to be probably the most helpful tool in the shop.

don't forget about the screw you have to remove.. that will hold back the compressor and not allow that much air flow
