I just tested the freeware software of it on my external hd. In the past few months I've deleted movies from it and i wanted to see if it would find any.. All it brought up was a few small useless files that i deleted.. is this because i didnt pay for it or am i doing somthign wrong? I went to recover deleted files..

If, by freeware, you mean trial version then, no, it's not because you didn't pay for it. The trial version does everything except actually recover the files. Are you using the correct version i.e. FAT vs. NTFS? Also, I've found that it's best to leave it on the "I don't know" setting. Like most recovery software, it won't recover much, if anything, if it's been overwritten. GDB is IMHO the best recovery software generally available.

Boy. Grave Digger Boy.

I use it all the time for my data recovery. Great software.

The built in DMCA licensing engine, probably. If it detects that it's recovering pirated software, movies or music, it skips the files in the recovery process.

Sorry, bud. It's gone.

interesting.. I dont really care bout the movie it was jsut to test software.. But it raelly does have a engine like that? pretty smart.. How does it know its not a backup/dvd copy tho?

No real experience with GDB and failing hard drives. I actually use EaseUS Data Recovery. I find that the built in tool to make an image from the drive, then recover from that is fantastic on bad drives.

I keep getting a Unknown Error after 1% on my scan whenever I DONT do the "recover deleted file" option.. thats the only option that works but doesnt recover my purposly deleted movies.. I click Ignore File and it times out and doesnt respond Could I possibly be getting a error because im usisng a external enclosure, im gna try connecting my hdd to an IDE adatper and see what happens

Alot of the options in this progral like recover from a damaged partition ect, cant you just boot from UBCD and recover the files that way instead of waiting for this 5 hour scan to finish?

i use GDB 4 NTFS and FATS quite a bit, i got the plugin and added it to the UBCD4WIN. I would say that 90 percent of the time it works just fine for me. As far as the "not recovering files because they are pirated" iam not so sure about that cause i have recovered files from a dead drive that have yeilded song downloads from Limewire.

That was a bad joke. I know it doesn't come across, but I typed it very sarcastically! :D :D
I basically played my odds that the movie in question was pirated and combined it with the fact that I felt like RR had already had the best answer possible and turned the thread into a joke with the "Grave Digger" question.
