A residential customer called today asking if we would review a computer they were thinking of buying. It was a Dell XPS, so I log onto Dell's site, and find my way to the model in question - we review the specs pros and cons together and then I said something along the lines of "$1,199 is a little expensive, but it's got good specs."

They responded with "Hmmm - it says $999 on my computer - are you sure you are looking at the right thing?"

So, I clear my browser cache and reload the site - sure enough, the same computer comes up at $999. WTF, Dell.

I guess their algorithms found a crap-ton of computer related cookies in my cache from many different vendors, and concluded that I was not a loyal customer, so they fed me a $200 penalty! Nice.

Dell's website sucks, it's always sucked. They push through price changes and you have to flush your cache. That's why now I only do my premier stuff via Chrome, because I don't use that browser for anything else and I'm free to flush the cache every time I launch it to keep things clean.

So many websites play games like this. I've had many times where the price of airline ticket has gone up with three consecutive browser refreshes.
