Flat Rate computer repair $59

I've purchased some power supplies and hard drive enclosures from them. I've been happy with the prices and with what I've received.

One example I can give you to compare them to Fry's is the power supply. Fry's wanted $24.99 and Outletpc was $14 and change for the same PS.

Ya Frys is kinda Far out for me here in Vegas so is the outletpc place, but im always looking to save only if its a good amount, 4$ is not worth the extra gas driving. especially when Im trying to become more professional with the little amount I have.

Not that it matters to those outside of Vegas, but there is a rumor that a new Frys will open up in Boca Park off of Charleston and Ft. Apache where the Great Indoors used to be.

Thank you for the input.

I too have been considering flat rate, we have held employee meetings looked at the pro's and con's, pricing options and from what I have read here, I'm going to start moving forward. There is no reason these flat rates need to be cheap and I can definitely see the benefits.

Thanks for all the input, I know this is not my thread but the info is GOOD :)

humm.. I guess I should start doing it. I know that my personal opinion of a .99 price is that look more professional or at least more appealing.. I guess I fall into the .99 trap like the theory states lol I may change my pricing to .99`s

$24.95 just sounds cheaper than $25....it's all sales psychology.

Another trick I've read is to use odd number like 24.53 which is suppose to make people believe that you've thought about what the exact price should be instead of just guessing for at a nice number.

I am for sure considering have a fix all price like 119.99, But there is so many variables I know I could not stick to 1 price..

Kind of hard to charge $119.99 to install memory :)

I guess for $59.95 flat rate they make out like a bandit for the easy stuff like a memory upgrade but lose out on the more difficult or time consuming repairs.

Most people have more than one problem so if they need their files backed up, memory installed, and email client configured I would assume that the charge would be $59.95 per item. That comes to $179.85 plus parts....not bad.

There's no way they could do all of that for $59.95. I emailed them and asked about their pricing but all I got was a response something to the effect of "our prices are listed on the website".

All my work is flat rate but never this cheap. $59 flat rate is too low and believe me, clients are not stupid. They do see this as someone who has a very low experience and in most cases will not trust him.

Mobile or storefront it doesn't matter, you will never make it with $59. He is probably ripping customers off buy over charging them on parts and other things to stay in business.

You are right about that. I have raised my prices, and O well if people do not want to pay it.. I am not going to bust my rump for chump change.

DO you guys list yalls prices on your website? I have been listing a few of mine just to give people an idea of what to expect to be charged, and to minimize the cheap skate price check callers.

Right now I have a flat rate chart that covers about anything that comes in the shop. My opinion is that they are too low. I'm considering a one price fix anything deal. But I'm not sure exactly what to charge. There is a lot of welfare people in my area, and the last 3 computers shops in town closed down. Now, I have free rent and really no overhead, but I don't want to sit in the office everyday making nothing. I really don't know what to charge for my area really. I just put down what I thought the service was worth based on many of your prices. I still think I'm too low though.

I am kind of in the same situation, we have 2 PC shops in the general area here, and about countless Pizza techs. I am just finding it hard to charge alot also.. people know they can search around and get it done for peanuts.. sucks man

all these freakin Pizza techs around here who will drop their prices 50% just to snag a job. Screw all that! Man if a customer does not want to pay my rates then that customer can ride the boat~

They can but it won't be done right.

I know, but by then the customer is gone and the damage is done. I dunno I think I need to stop advertising on craigs list, I think C-List just makes me angry because it just generates these people calling me thinking I have some freakin Dollar Menu for PC repair like McDonalds! Plus C-List makes me look like another slop pizza tech.

They sell the parts for the same price they sell to everyone online and their prices are reasonable. 14.99 for the same PS that sells at Fry's for $24.99

I have a shop and do onsite.

In-shop I charge either $75 or $129 flat rate plus parts depending on how much work it is. I also do iPhone repairs and I charge $99 including parts.

Now onsite I charge $75/hr from the time I arrive to the time I'm done.. and I drive up to 40miles. If they are more than 40miles out I charge them from when I leave my office until I finish the job

I want to take it to this OutletPc place just becuase, New topic I want to milk the 60$ what shall I give them? I have this ol' compaq its slow, full of god knows what, i can throw a few simple nasties and few hard nasties, what else should I give it? should I pop out the vid card.

What would be your worst nightmare to get and only have $59.99 to show you fixed it?

LOL I'll meet you there with my buddies old 98 laptop. It is more like a brick really but I'll fill it with some trojan's, a fake AV and some good viruses and we will see what they can do! Apparently they are pretty close to me.
I don't know if I can get my wife to just let me throw away $60 though!

I had a look at pricing offered on Craiglist by some and based on some hourly rate of $25 onsite to home they could make a 'whopping' $150 a day (less travel).

Who can live on that? The ad is supposedly someone with 25 years experience. Sorry but really, some one with 25 years experience should be on $100,000 by now and / or charging a minimum $90 an hour.
