Hi,

I have reinstalled win7x86 on a clients PC, and installed firefox.
For some reason, firefox is not opening some sites (including mine) correctly.
Java & Flash are installed.

I have tried 3 different versions of firefox, and reinstalled java.

The sites work OK in IE and Chrome on the same PC
I cannot replicate the same issue on any other PC.

Am I just being totally daft and forgot something? Or is there something more sinister happening here?

Is this an issue whether or not you have installed add-ons in FF?

Thats what I was thinking, but I cannot figure out what might be missing.

If I look at http://www.traviswalkerlaw.com/ I don't see the sliding image at the top, I see all 4 images one on top of the other (in Firefox and only on this PC)

So, logic says it has to be a java issue. Reinstalled Java, no difference and http://nivo.dev7studios.com/ works OK, so it can't be jQuery.

I really can't be giving this PC back and try to explain why the client can't use firefox :(

Have you tried going back a version or so of FF to see if that works? Then upgrade onwards.

One other thing you could try but clutching at straws is to run all FF installs using Run As.. and try that, or force to run in compatibility mode for Vista and try eliminate win 7 itself

I have tried 3 versions of FF, and all the same.
Run as admin, and compatability mode for XP made no difference.

I reinstalled win7 (again), installed FF & Java before anything else and got the same problem.

Well if you've got java plug ins im not sure, just for info, ive got:

Java Deployment toolkit 6.0.300.12 and
Java(tm) platform se6 u30 6.0.300.12 and both 'enabled'

Maybe a bootkit/rootkit that wasn't wiped out when you reinstalled Win7.

Try doing a fixboot/fixmbr.

That would make sense, as this is the same laptop that had "class not installed" for anything MMC related.

Ran fixboot & fixmbr but didn't resolve the issue, if it is a rootkit it is a good one as nothing I have ran so far can find it......

What would be the best way to totally clean the drive so I can install win7 again and be sure there is no rootkit in there?

Try a low level format, HDDGuru or similar.

Yeah because low level formats fix Firefox issues all the time....
Did you post in the wrong thread or something?

Without seeing a screenshot, the OP's issue sounds like what happens with the
NoScript plugin when you view a site that relies on Javascript (not Java) for
layout/navigation.

This is why I suggested a LLF. OP wants to reinstall
