Greetings,
I have a workstation that is baffling me. To my knowledge, the machine was running fine until the power went out at our building. The PSU it was hooked up to was faulty and only lasted a few seconds before draining the battery and shutting the computer down improperly. When i turn the machine on now, I get an error window titled "Services.exe - Application Error" The dialog reads " The application has fail to initailize properly (0xc0000006) Click ok to terminate the application". Once you click ok, it is just stuck on a blue screen with a mouse cursor (where the log in info should be)

Additional Info:
The the point of the lockup, Ctrl+Alt+Del does not work.
All Advanced start up options produce the same error

Any input would be great. Thanks in Advance.

Tested memory and HDD. Both tests completed without any errors. I read some other threads about this issue saying that a repair install should do the trick. Thoughts?

Oh. And to make this issue even more difficult, I cant load the recovery console off of the XP disc. It requires the Local Administrator Password and the last IT guy didnt use the default our department uses.

Getting around the password is easy. Download a copy of parted magic, boot up, and blank the Administrator Password, then you can reset it to your department default.

As far as your services error, if you know no hardware is bad, maybe do a system restore to a couple of days ago and see if it helps. Have you checked to be sure the pc is clean and not infected?

Might also consider trying the tweaking.com all in one repair if you still aren't having luck, I've seen this fix issues with Windows updates etc. But do more digging first.

Assuming the improper shutdown caused the problem, I would start by checking the disk and file system for errors.

Many other apps out than mbam. Also, I prefer parted magic then don't have to worry as much on any licensing since it's linux. I think it's like 5 bucks to download a copy now, but worth that.

Fix found.

I found my own fix for it. Since i was able to access the the C: from the Hirens mini xp, i just backed up the Documents and Settings folder as a safety precaution, and did a repair installation with my install media. All programs and files appear to be intact.

Next time bother to post what version of windows this is, what diags you did (real diags, not just scan the HD and mem) and if you can go into safe mode, etc in your FIRST POST of the thread.

If you do that you will likely get more help.
