I recently acquired a Dell Latitude D520 running XP Pro w/SP3, at auction. The only problem I am having at the moment is when I try to install a driver for the Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN Mini.Card I get and error: "Bass_rel_5_6_456 has occurred" during setup and cannot continue. I have not been successful Googling for an answer. When I restart the computer I get a notification that a driver is not installed, yet I have installed the available driver(s) from Dell's website.

However, in device manager the device seems just fine. But I cannot get wireless to work and thought a driver might be missing even though device manager shows everything is OK as far as drivers are concerned. I am suspecting the wifi card at this point. Any suggestions before I spend a few dollars for a new card?

I removed the card and reset it. Still the same problem persists.

As always, thank you for your assistance.

Have you verified all firmware and BIOS updates applied? Other than that it sounds like probably an issue with the WLAN card.

No, I haven't verified the firmware or BIOS updates. But I will. But I also am thinking it is an issue with the WLAN card. Thanks.

Apparently it is the wifi card. I'll replace it and then I should be just fine. Thanks for the help. Unless some weird thing happens between now and then, I will consider this SOLVED.
