Error 800700c1 when installing updates

Keep getting error 800700c1 when installing updates for windows 7 ultimate 64bit. All updates are installed except it won't install security updates.
Did a windows validation and all is good. Tried all I could find but nothing seems to work. Downloaded the updates manually and still not working.Any ideas?

You gave us the error code and the OS.
That's not a lot of troubleshooting there ... or attempted fixes.

If you google the code, you get a few things to try. Which ones have you tried to fix it?

Not sure but I Think that a file isn't being registered properly during a MS Update or download

Resolve

1. Click Start and select Run

2. Type CMD and press enter

3. Type sfc/scannow and press enter

Hopefully this will fix the issue automatically.

Be sure to attempt the aggressive method within the Fixit options if you have not already, as it rebuilds the SoftwareDistribution store and resets the security descriptors for the BITS. Beyond that, although it seems obvious, be sure to check that IE does not have a faulty proxy set as well. If this is a post-infection repair, it is quite common to find that such threats as TDSS and other similar malware leverage the proxy settings to redirect network traffic through a malicious local driver.

thanks for the help guys. Did all malware/rootkit/etc detections but nothing was found. Checked proxy...none is used. Did sfc/scannow...same error keeps popping up. Also did aggressive option in the Microsoft Fixit utility.
All lead to no solution. Removed the license,tried the recovery cd ...did not work either.

What does the windows update log say about it all?
Check c:\windows\windowsupdatelog.txt for clues.

Had one today that for some reason got a GPO inserted that made it look for a WSUS server that didn't exist...

Nothing seemed to work...was very strange.

Unfortunately that seems to be Microsoft's going solution to this problem as well.
