Emachine & Vista

Hey guys, have a customers E-Machine T5062. They are having some problems; can't install programs, everything starts slow, etc... Anyway, they said it was fine to reformat and reinstall. My questions are these, Is it just me or does Emachine's recovery partition not allow you to reinstall clean back to like new from the manufacturer? If I can't, is it possible to use an OEM from another machine but use the key from the Emachine to activate. First time I've run across this with emachine, I can get a copy of the disk but emachine wants $30 and I have to wait for ship time, customer needs it like yesterday. Thanks in advance.

You can use a oem disc but not the recovery disc from another pc unless it is another of the same brand and being the same brand with vista it may not work so you may need an oem vista disc or from what I have seen any vista disc my home prem disc I have used on other pcs one with home std and one with one of the others I t will let you select which os you want to install then you just use the key on the pc

I don't understand why you can't recover to factory specs from the recovery partition - that's the whole purpose of having it. I'd contact eMachines if that's the problem.
