Greetings,
I don't know about many of you but I have a bad habit of having a movie/video on one of my monitors while I am doing work. I usually don't pay much attention to it while I'm working and if I'm doing something which requires dedicated thought and precise thinking I will shut off the "entertainment". I guess I have replaced the radio of the old days with the video of today.
Well, I don't know about any of you but there is only so much "Hollywood" that I can take so I often watch/listen to documentaries on just about every topic. I figure I'm at least learning something with these. I have tried looking for some documentaries that are computer , network or internet based so I can listen to them and build my business skills at the same time but I haven't really found any.
I guess I want to know if any of you have any sources of audio or video that are either books on tape or podcasts about anything computer related. I just want to spend my time wisely and learn as much as I can while I am doing tedious office work such as invoicing, PC builds, web design etc.
I know there are a lot of videos available on Youtube but I have become a little leary of those due to the "expert factor", meaning many people consider themselves experts and capable of producing a video to teach others when in fact they hare barely above novice. I think the term "expert" has lost much of it's meaning and unfortunately has been diluted to the point that when I hear the word it means almost nothing to me other than "this person works in the field". I would consider expert and master to be very similar and in these days very few people reach those levels due to the broadness of topics that they need to know so when someone meets a true expert or master, it is very obvious and appearant that they know what they are doing.
So, any help here on technical audio books, podcasts, etc? I used to listed to the Kim Kommando show once in a while but I now think she is a corporate shill that pushes any product for which she is paid to talk about (speculation but it comes from some keen observation).
