Don't know jack about Macs.

I recently took up programming IOS apps not to long ago and because of the need of a mac I started exploring building a hackintosh. I found some great resources, went ahead and bought Lion from the mac store, and found an extra hard drive laying around and went at it. Within a couple days I had a perfectly stable mac running on my main Desktop, Lion dual booting with Windows 7. Not only saved me $1000, but I now offer Mac help as part of my business because of the experience I've gained from using and playing around with my hackintosh.
