Greetings,

I am closer to registering a website. I was going to use network solutions until I saw that it was $34.99 us. I though domains were $9.99. I know godaddy is cheaper but now my question is why the big difference.

Why should I use. I am only going to register a domain nothing else.
I am a bit short on cash other wise I would probably have gone with network solutions so that I dont keep putting it off. So since my credit card was shorter than I expected I decided to get opinions.

Network Solutions or Go Daddy?

Or should I just go with someone else?

Why the bit price difference between go daddy and network solutions?

As always, thank you for your time.

I use Godaddy, but you might want to do some research before choosing them. A lot of people have had huge problems, and their reputation isn't the best. Personally I can't say anything bad about them.

1 and 1 also sells domain names. Currently $6.99 USD for the first year or free with hosting. I've seen some negative posts about them here in the forum but without an explanation. I've used 1 and 1 for years with no problems.

I've heard nightmare stories about 1and1. They make Godaddy's bad reviews look mild in comparison. It's been a couple years since I've been up to date on this type of thing, but I would probably still avoid them at all costs.

Can you elaborate?

I'm no shill for 1 and 1, but I recommend them based on my own experience.

godaddy, networksolutions, 1and1 all have the same issue they limit your ability to control your web site or domain with their custom web control panels that has limits. (networksolutions will not allow you to transfer your domain from them its in there terms of service). The one reason i hate them is it takes for ever to get anything done with there control panels. You need a company that uses cpanel which is the easiest to use. But if your looking for someone only to register a domain name try namecheap.com ive been using them since 99 never had a problem. there domains start at $9.69 but you can get them cheaper if you find a special they run the lowest ive seen is .99 cent. Try also give you free services when you order or renew a domain with them like ssl certificate, whois guard ect. good luck

also another note dont search for a domain when at networksolutions there known for buying if you dont just to put a outrageous price on it and say its a top level domain or premium domain. also know as cybersquatting but they get away with it.

i know all about it cause ive trademarked my business name and have been fighting with buydomains to release it (systemtechs.com) to me. icann is very slow in dealing with it as the company buydomains is making money of my trademarked name. just think i went on vacation and my domain expired and when i got back 3 days later after it expired i was getting emails from buydomains to buy it back at 2900.00 now they want 9600.00 for it and its only been a year

I've been using Go Daddy for several years now and have never had an issue with them. I even use the free hosting and have never seen or heard of my site being down. Not that it gets a lot of traffic anyway, but still.

Their private registration is a ripoff. If you planned on using it then you could probably come out cheaper by going somewhere else. I don't use private registration and I don't have a problem with telemarketers, although I use my cell number so that probably helps.

I would recomend you put the web domain on hold untill you can affors the name you want ,if you belive thats the best name for you get it ,on the otherhand you can always buy it later and have 2 domain unames pointing to the same site i have www.technology-geek.uuuq.com (ma free domain) and www.technology-geek.info my paid domain (i know the site looks crap but what you expect form someone who new to html coding i can knock out decent sites in dream weaver but i want a 100% hand made site for this.
