I get most advice from Technibble and a few other very similar forums, also from a coupla mates in the same business as me, from other business owners and from my missus :)

I'll take relevant advice from anyone, but like religion, I don't like it rammed down my throat

I get most of my advice from comic books.Good luck with your book I hope it is a non best seller.
Maybe this guy is from that other forum (that broke away from here a while back) just to start trouble.Just a thought.

I answered yes, but... It depends on who gives me the advice, and if I asked for it or not. I mean... Some people likes to talk just because it helps them to be. ;)

People who have experience in the areas I'm seeking advice on.

Same here. I recently signed up my local SCORE chapter in my area and I've signed up for several webinars with them. When it comes to specific computer-related issues, I frequent TN quite often as well as trade email messages with friends/colleages I've actually met on TN. Exchanging information is a win-win for all.

I will say that I do NOT like a person who's offering to give advice but likes to switch it up and make it seem like they're a know-it-all and then puts down ideas that I may have and end up elevating themselves instead. I've come across a few and it's a big turnoff for me. This isn't and shouldn't be about competition, we're all in this together. If I get that feeling from someone, I'll speak on it...politely and respectfully of course-:)-:)

I agree. I also don't like it when a person tries to shove advice down your throat that you don't agree with, then vigorously defend it because they aren't willing to listen to another person's opinion and see it from a different perspective. It's almost like they believe that their way is the best and only way, and they can't handle it being criticized. Or they don't want to listen to another person ideas because either they didn't come up with it themselves, or they can't imagine anyone having a better idea than themselves.

You know, general narcissistic behavior.

What's up with these weird tags on this thread?

10-thread-a-day quota, advice, chapter 3 business advice, hypocracy lessons, irony, pushy members

I do not mind receiving nor declining advice. It all depends on the nature of the advice given and how profitable it is. It also depends on how it will effect the nature of business and possibly your personal life.

My personal feeling is to take all things into consideration even if you don't agree at first. After you've weighed out the pros and cons and it makes sense from all angles to do it, then go for it. Otherwise break out the axe and start tearing it down! :D
