Do you guys get these people that try to show you adult (nude) images?

I usually get a few of these people each year and its been going on since I started online computer repair but i've never bothered to ask anyone why.

These people will come in and pretend to have a problem and want me to take a look at it but when I connect theres images some where, never in immediate view but either the images themselves will be minimized or the folders containing the images minimized and image thumbnails enabled. If the window becomes visible they usually say something like oops or those are my wife/girlfriend or oh those are pictures of me.

I'm not sure what their objective is, testing if i'm trustworthy perhaps or maybe something nefarious? It would be weird if they are just trying to share, theres sites dedicated to that kind of thing.

No one has ever tried to show me but I do run into pron viewers/users occasionally. I'm just sure their adblock and AV is on max and I point them to some of the more benign pron lists (tblop dot com) to use.

I have not had anyone outright/blatantly show me any. I have encountered less and less of it actually downloaded on computers guess they are content with streaming.

Whenever I read/hear about pr0n computer stuff it reminds me of the first time I saw a customer computer with it. Had a call for an onsite back in the day at CompUSA. Someone out of state called up, their Dad was not able to connect to the Internet. This was in the dial up days. Got there and he had all of these DUN's on his desktop to pr0n sites. This was when 900 numbers were still around and one scam was to setup a DUN to a 900 number which would automatically bill out to the customer's LEC. Fortunately the black hats were not smart enough to get the dial string correct so the guy never got whacked for $10/minute or whatever they tried to do.

Porn is popular here, I see it a lot. You would be surprised who watches it.
16/17 year old girls and boys, up to 80 y/o men and women.
I have quite a few clients with home made "amateur porn" as well as shower/pool whatever pictures on their computers.
We have a nudist beach only a few km's away and some of my clients are "members" so I see some interesting stuff at times. Seeing your client naked is a shock!
I don't go looking for it but see it during backups sometimes..
I don't mind it as along as it's tasteful.

I try not to look at ANY client files as I don't want to get in trouble for finding something illegal and not reporting it. But sometimes it just can't be helped. I have one client that always has some porn desktop wallpaper. You'd think they'd change that sh*t before bringing it in for repair. Because they don't, I know that it's deliberate. This particular client is just looking for a rise out of me, and he almost got it last time I saw him because the background was a huge picture of some guy's junk. I was so surprised/horrified that I almost let it show...almost. Grossed me out. I mean, who the h*ll wants to see that sh*t? He pays well but I dread it when he calls. We laugh about it in the shop and I try to stick him with someone else. I've jokingly threatened an under-performing employee of mine that if he doesn't improve his performance I'll stick him with that client next time he calls. LOL.

Hmm. While I may occasionally catch a glimpse of someone's favorite inappropriate sites or saved pictures, if I ever felt someone was deliberately exposing me to their stuff it would be the last time I worked with them.

There's a difference between respecting a client's privacy and having to ignore inappropriate exhibitionism. The first I will always strive to do, the second I don't have to endure.

Not intentionally I don't think. I have had this happen many times though...I am about done with a job and forgot to disconnect and in literally seconds they are on to porn. I think they think once I'm off the phone, I'm out of the computer. I honestly, just giggle and close the connection.

On a side note, I get some who try to heavy flirt, the "call girl" part gets them excited I think. Not sure, but I play along if I'm bored lol

Had a Hollywood actor couple that had some homemade stuff. Was actually pretty well done, ha. I wouldn't dream of doing anything with it but somebody scummy could have really made some bank.

I had one client that was a professional photographer. A married couple they did the usual portrait photography and weddings but they also as a totally separate business took erotic photos and videos. Anything from lingerie shots to full amateur porn videos. Their home office where they ran that business had photos on the wall of the wife and another woman in the nude and the wallpaper on her desktop was an action shot of her and her husband.

I don't think I've been shown porn deliberately, although I have a few old & lonely guys who tell me their computers are for porn only, it's not a problem.

I did have a young couple come in a few years ago complaining of a laptop screen not working, I had it on the counter, facing me, wiggled the lid a little and a compromising picture of the woman facing me was facing me. She then turned the laptop around, saw herself, slammed the lid down and proceeded to batter the husband/boyfriend with said laptop LOL

Never had anyone go out of their way to show me but when I worked corporate ran into it daily.

As long as it's nothing illegal it doesn't bother me.

Have worked a couple cases where I have come across let's just say stuff that shouldn't be and it becomes a big hassle of involving police writing statements full documentation and so on.

Both of these were when I was working at a repair shop as an employee.

First was a couple, probably in their 50s and they came in with a desktop problem. I loaded it up to see what the problem was while they're were there. Their desktop background was a picture of them nude at a beach, each with one arm around the other facing the camera.

I said nothing, they continued describing their problem and I fixed it while they watched.

Another time this really slimy repeat customer that I hated came in. He had some bs issue that he most likely knew I couldn't help him with. He was being "hacked" and was being defamed on the internet (from what I saw it was just legitimate opinion pieces on niche news sites since he was a middling politician) and thought I could do something about it. Anyway after like 15 mins of telling the dude I can't do anything for him he suddenly just opens up a photo, spins the laptop around and says "what do you think about her?"

It's just a generic playboy style pic, so even worse than being way inappropriate, it's also very boring. My hatred for this scumbag deepens as he starts scrolling through the pictures in his pictures folder and I realize that he had his porn pics intermingled with his family photos with like his kids and such. He's just skipping past vacation pics to get to the vanilla fake chested ladies.

I know, I'm a way too patient of a guy. It comes in handy when helping nice old ladies but is a curse when dealing with shitheads. I told my boss I'm not dealing with that guy ever again, and eventually I moved to another of the company's locations. I learned that the guy showed up a couple times later and was asking for me specifically and was told each time that I had quit haha. God help whoever he latched in to next.

Get the call, my wifi isn't working, again, can you come by and check it out. I get there, the wife is fresh out of the shower and hovering around me in a t-shirt no bra or panties. I'm looking for nic drivers, or what ever, and have them look for the driver cd, wife looking on the top shelves, reaching up, pulling up her t-shirt in the process--the husband standing just out side the office watching everything. Not sure if their getting off on it or not, must be. One time she had me on the floor tracking down some dsl phone filters in her bedroom, came over and stood right over me, half naked.....again....husband standing just outside the bedroom watching. Another time she wanted to back up all her photos, her blank cds were in a box on top of an armoire, so she gets on a step-stool, practically bends over at the wast to reach the box,,,,,her whole A** exposed.....again, husband standing down the hall, watching....by then i was on to them....HA....i just totally ignored it...and got out quickly.
