Dell AIO USB doesn't work

I've had several computers come through the shop lately that the USB ports stopped working after an update. The USB worked in BIOS so I was able to boot to a Windows 10 USB and do a restore...until this one Dell All in One. The Keyboard works to access BIOS, then I boot to thumb drive, only to have it freeze. What could be causing this?

Dadgum you're good! I'll try this out, I believe it freezes in the recovery environment as well.

Either it freezes, or the USB ports still don't work. There's no pointer and the keyboard isn't responding when I press the caps key

I wonder if I could remove the hard drive, install it as a secondary and uninstall that update that way. Thoughts?
