Couldn't find any similar post so I decided to make one. Here is the list of default services for Windows XP and what they should be set to. It was taken from a clean install of Windows XP Home machine with SP2:

Nice one ! I'll have to edit that into a batch file .. shouldn't be too difficult though

Here are the ones for Vista .. Both in .bat and .reg .. Whatever you prefer ..

It would appear you guys haven't heard of Black Viper. He's been the king of WIndows services since the good old days of The Screen Savers on Tech TV. He has service listing and descriptions for XP, Vista and Windows 7. You can ever download reg files to make the changes with a simple click. Great site if you really want to know what the service does.

He has service listing and descriptions for XP, Vista and Windows 7. You can ever download reg files to make the changes with a simple click. Great site if you really want to know what the service does.

He has downloaded reg entries, a services tool you can config your own, just loaded with goodness, main page doesn't link direct though so it gets overlooked until you click the link "Windows XP x86 (32-bit) Service Pack 3 Services" and then "Services Registry Files", which is prob why you didn't see it before now.
