Dead laptop

Something is killing the board. Since it was a new board (I'm assuming it was new and not a pull), that means one of the original components is causing the problem. RAM, CPU, Optical Drive, Hard Drive, WiFi card, etc.

Hopefully, the motherboard isn't permanently fried (crossing my fingers for you). Try disconnecting everything except the CPU and RAM and see if you can boot into the BIOS at least, with lights on and fans spinning. If that works, then it's just a process of elimination to find the assassin component. Check the CPU for bent pins while you're at it.

"One of the boards" ?. Can you be more specific ?.

The board has a usb connector, a modem port and it the moden is attched to it, there is a bad solder joint on the usb connector, so i disconneted this board, it powered up, fan spinnning, no beeb, no lights, then turned it self off, so i tried powering up again and is now dead again, i just hope the new motherboard is not f***ed.

The only thing connected to the motherboard is the fan and cpu, and power supply, the motherboard is out and sitting on the bench with the above.

I'm sorry, I cannot visualize everything you are doing. Some of the things you say dont make sense or end up having me to ask more questions. I am sure you are trying very hard but its too much for me to keep at this. Good luck, maybe someone else will hop on this thread.

Maybe you can refer your customer to your local computer shop who fix laptops.

Maybe, thank you for your smart arse comment, this forum is for techs who need help and i was asking for help for a issue i have, but never mind, life goes on.
