Hi, I have stripped down a ACER 2930 with a faulty jck. The jack is on a wire which aprears to be soldered directly to the mobo with 4 pins in a line. There is no soccet on the mobo. Never seen a jack like this before. Any way, I have tested the pins on the board where the jack lead is soldered to the mobo and there is the full 19v passing into the board. Im guessing the board is bad. What part of the mobo goes when handling power? Im thinking of sending it off the RMAupdates.com for repair. Anyone any tips, suggestions or experience of these before?

Thanks,

Looks like that but the "Plug" at the end is soldered through to the other side of the board. No Socket on there. Its just one piece.

I currently have a Acer Aspire on my bench that I'm working, the DC Jack is on a smaller board that is mounted to the mother board, is your DC Jack mounted directly to the MB?

Yes, that picture shows the jack and the mobo. Its got like a plug at the end with 4 pins at right angles that go through the board and are soldered on. Either way the mobo is bag so im getting anew one.

I also have an Acer Aspire on my bench but I can't seem to find the right DC Jack for it. Anyone know of a good supplier? Model: 5251-1513. Has to be for that exact model. DC Jack w/cable.

Well at least now you have a board you can practice perfecting your soldering skills.

Slightly off topic.

What are RMAupdates like ? have you used them?
I just got a flyer mailed to me yesterday and I was wondering if they were reputable or 'fly-by-night'.

Thanks
