Hi all

I need to send a client Hdd in for data recovery.
Not detecting after power failure.

I used ABC data recovery before but they have gone insolvent.

Can anybody recommend a good company in the UK.

I found datatrack-labs and pcimage in the UK.

Has anybody used them?
Any good companies to reccomend

On another note any recommendations for a good Hdd pcb supplier?

Cheers

Herman

I've never used them, but I recommend Data Clinic. Their website may not be prettiest, but the main reason I like this company is because it's clear from some of their blog entries that they know their stuff. I can't tell you how much their prices are, but they offer callbacks and free consultations so you've got nothing to lose.

Another good company is here: Disk Labs, but I have a feeling their more expensive and I have no idea of what they're really like. They're often used by the police and other law enforcement; they have a youtube channel with more info. I've also found a couple of bugs in their website...

I used Datatracklabs once recently. I was quoted up to £250 to recover the data + 'extras'. The extras added quite a lot more on top so the recovery was closer to £500. My client declined then Datatractlabs came back with a much lower offer so I had to go back to client with the 'reduced' cost. Why do companies do this? It looked like I was trying it on with my client and they never came back to me with an answer after saying they would think about it. Therefore I won't use Datatracklabs again.

Time to find another data recovery company. Thats just plain unprofessional.

I use Gillware. They have a good partner program. I have found them good to deal with.

+1

They are a great company to work with and you can get up to 20% commission. I have used them a few times and made almost $1000 by simply sending in a hard drive for data recovery.

I have used DRD twice http://www.drd-uk.com/default.aspx as they a quite local and found them very good. They offer no fix no fee. I have initially quoted clients a small diagnostic charge of £20-30 to cover costs of petrol and then once confirmed data is retrievable I add 10-15% of the cost to client. Both ways I am covered to make some extra for time and transport costs

They seem very reasonably priced; good experience with them?

I tried my recovery myself and I guess you can do it too.
this is specially if your drive is still detected by your machine. You may simply use recuva to retrieve your files.

I think we can all do that, the issue is when it's not detected by your bios.

If anyone gets any Seagate 7200.11 drives which aren't detected in BIOS, it is usually a firmware fault where it reports the drive as busy.

I will gladly do these for anyone on here for £30 + shipping each way.

I've often been a bit wary of pcimage because they seem suspiciously cheap... I'll have to start using them if people are having good experiences with them. Is anyone a partner or 'dealer' with them?

Trust me...he knows exactly what he is doing. You may find that the more expensive labs in the area are outsourcing to pcimage anyway.
