I have a PC which won't boot and is just lookin to be on its way out I advise for the cost of a new PC they are going to be better off in the long run vs a repair of the old. They want data recovered not an issue... or so I thought the problem isn't with reading the drive as I haven't gotten there yet. I am having trouble remove the drive from the tower I have read the instructions but it seems like its screwed in but I see no screws. I also found that the plug for the HDD both on the drive and the cable is broken and am afriad there may be damage to the connector. What might you all suggest to remove this drive and begin testing it. I can't use the CD drive on the PC as it opens everytime you try and close it.

What brand is it and what model?

So, you want us to help you remove a drive from a tower that we have no information about, other than you can't see screws? :D No thanks.

Maybe a picture or two of how the drive is installed and mounted in the tower might help.

Some HDs are mounted by screws on the face or back plate rather than the sides?

Other than that look for a clamp.

The PC case wasn't born with an HD!

It is a Gateway 9310XL sorry I thought I had that in there but I guess that was omited my bad. I did manage to remove the drive but the piece off the borken SATA connector is still stuck in there. I ended up just pulling the cable from the PC which fits because it is the broken cable anyhow it looks like it is working will let yall know thanks anyhow everyone.

Btw the drive was just in the retention brackets so tight it felt like it was screwed in.
