Data Recovery and Imaging Software

I wasn't allowed to post a URL link.

You should be able to check it out at the above address.

Are you using this software? If so are you using it just for "everyday" data recovery or are you actually doing forensic type recoveries?

Looks to me like they built a light distro that uses dd, and give you the ability to verify via md5 or sha1. Not helpful to really anyone except forensicators.

I find that Macium Reflect Free Edition Is the best for imaging a drive, since it's free and is very easy to use.

For data recovery I use Reccuva which is made by the same people who do Ccleaner. Again it has a nice simple interface and it just works. It is also free.

Thanks for the heads up on macrium, I had never heard of it. The thing that made me sad is that it's not free, it's free for personal use.

Sorry, I should of said. But it is great for just imaging a drive. As long as you don't install it on a clients system, or you don't have staff then there is nothing stopping you from using the free edition.

I hope I don't sound like a pirate. I have actually paid for the full edition.

@ Tom Hudson: never heard of Macrium before but it looks promising. Thanks, I will check it out and see if it's worth the bucks.

Cheers.
