Hi all,

It's been a while since I copied any discs

What software do you usually use /recommend to clients to copy DVDs? (legally)

CDBurnerXP every time. In spite of the name, it works on Windows 2000/XP/2003 Server/Vista/2008/Win7/Win8 (x86 / x64). Doesn't mess with Windows settings/drivers and has an excellent on-line help. Never had to give support after installation and showing the client the help and FAQ pages.

It does require .NET 2.0/3.5, which can be a nuisance if you have wait through the install, but most will already have it, of course.

Data DVDs? or are you talking "Movies". If "Movies", I'm out, as that is a whole other legal/moral issue!

Yes could be data also. You are legally allowed to have a backup. The specific client that has asked is copying a disc he has made a few years ago.

Awesome, thank you!

Yet another advantage to having a linux box on your bench is that you have such a variety of powerful programs to choose from. K3B, Brasero, Xfburn all come to mind for this task. Plenty of command line options as well. Gotta love FOSS.

CDBurner XP is installed all all PCs that leave here. Why customer rings up I know exactly where to point them.

Iam a linux running shop. I would use dd to make copies of software/dvds. Then I would take the iso file and burn it with K3B.

I find that to be extremely easy to do.
