Computer Repair Lifespan

I can't see how there will ever be money repairing smartphones or tablets. They are disposable.
I think that setting up networks, configuring backups, server administration and educating users, may be the best bet for the near future. There are still many business in the Tampa area that run there own exchange servers, file and app servers.

Tell that to the guy who just spent $500 on a tablet, that its no worth repairing. We'll be fixing them, but I'm guessing the prices will drop like a rock, then no.

I've done 2 iPod glass screens and 1 LCD - very easy - insructions on youtube.
Tip:- Use a magnetic screwdriver - screws are tiny, about 2 millimeter long.
And don't open them up on a bare desk or table as if you drop a screw it will bounce away and you'll never find it. (I'm still looking for one two weeks later):D

Start Android repair, very easy to do, yet nobody seems to know how to do it. Iphone/Ipod repair might be worth it, but the system is so locked down, I would not touch it.

Agreed on all points. I too am hearing the "I could buy a new one for that" more often these days. In fact on about every 5th or 6th computer. Computers are most certainly becoming disposable items. Last week a customers netbook Mobo died and I asked her if she had any data or pics backed up. She said "oh no, I have all that on facebook".

That last part would have made me laugh. Little does the client know that Facebook has her pics plus a whole lot more info that she probably doesn't even know about.

Facebook is evil.

If this computer service IT thing of ours doesn't last then I am going to go to my alternate retirement plan.

I am going to find a rich lady to keep me. I figure if guys die earlier than ladies then I should be worth a premium. :)
