I have a situation where a customer said he would come into his computer room every morning to start working on his computer, and seeing as his computer would be left on all night he would just move the mouse and the comp should've come back from sleep mode. However, it started not doing this and he would be forced to shut down by holding the power button down. Then sometimes holding the power button wouldn't shut things down but the comp would just restart while the power button was being pressed. So he would be forced to pull the power cord out and put it back in to start it up.
So he bought it in to me and the comp has not wanted to turn on at all (except for once after leaving it all night). I have tried testing the PS which is fine, I've pulled out everything from the mobo including RAM, PCI network card, video card, hdd, dvd drive and tried it but same thing. (I try turning it on, it wouldnt boot up, all fans start though including CPU fan). One thing to note is that if I unplug the comp while it is running, the next time i try to turn it off again, pressing the power button is sufficient if i hold it for 4 seconds. Otherwise it restarts while the button is being pressed.
