Computer Keeps Restarting

Hello everyone,

I have searched a lot on my question today but I can't seem to find anything that matches my situation.

Last night I was using my Dell Inspiron 2200 laptop and a window popped up, it let me know that the computer was just updated from the Microsoft Updates and that it would restart in a few seconds. After the countdown finished the computer restarted.

Here is the problem...it shut down, the normal Dell screen came up, followed by the Windows XP loading screen, and and then it restarted again. Thats all that would happen, the Dell Screen, then the XP Screen, and it would follow that process over and over again with nothing else.

I am not sure what is wrong with it but if anyone has any kind of insight and could possibly help me fix this problem it would be greatly appreciated. I asked a friend of mine and he said it may be a bad update that was installed, I am not exactly sure what to do about this since I can't log in at all. I tried to get into Safe Mode to see if even that would work, nothing. I am wondering if anyone has experienced this before as well.

Before you see the XP loading screen, press F8 on the keyboard. It should give you a list of startup options - select "Disable automatic restart..." and you should get a BSOD with an error message. Let us know the message if you get one.

A blue screen now comes up with the following message:

STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Session Manager Initialization system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc000026c (0x00000000 0x00000000).
The system has been shut down.

SP3 Update?? I had a system that happend to and luckily the customer didn't have anything important on the system. I found it was easier to just do a format because the customer complained that his grandkids were on it and it was running real slow anyway.

That machine wouldn't let me boot into safe mode so I couldn't do really anything with it...

Good Luck

Darren
