Hello,

I've been working on a Compaq Presario CQ60 laptop when low and behold the ribbon connected to the power button board (on back of the bezel) came right off! I figure I can try to solder it back on but wondered if anybody has some advice or recommendations. If this doesn't work I'll probably have to buy a replacement for $55 on ebay.

I can't believe how cheap these things are made. I also attached a photo to show what I'm talking about.

Thanks for the help!

no, the blue part plugs into the motherboard. There a release switch there. But the other end has 8 very little metal connectors connecting to the power button board. It seems to have been reinforced with a glue of some sort. This is the part that broke off. Not sure if I can salvage without soldering, but the connectors are very small. I've tried everything else trying to stick it back on but the button will not work.

This is a picture of one on ebay that is fully connected....http://cgi.ebay.com/Compaq-CQ50-CQ60-Power-Button-Board-48-4H503-011-/140434006551?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0
