did you check the plug
The ac adapter is good and the dc jack is good

Conversion from AC to DC occurs at the adapter,inversion. Maybe you mean the DC processing chip found on some of the newer laptop motherboards. When these chips go bad the battery will not charge, or the adapter wont be recognized. The result is blinking orange or solid orange charging light, depending on the model. After you check all the obvious stuff, DC voltage, make sure cable isn't damaged at the AC end and DC end, check the jack, battery, try leaving the ac charger plugged but remove the battery..that chip might be an issue.

I now have 2 of those crappy presarios in my shop same problem, Tried everything but a new Mobo cuz neither customer wanted to pay the cost.
Ironically these particular models motherboards are outrageously priced even
on Ebay....I've read a lot about HP's dis-interest in their defective products,
and all of us here know what I'm talking about, It bothers me when I see that look on the customers face when you tell them they paid close to $1000. for a known defective product....
I now have 2 of those crappy presarios in my shop same problem, Tried everything but a new Mobo cuz neither customer wanted to pay the cost.

agreed,HP needs to address some of there issues.they are #1 in laptop sales etc,but there support and known issues need to be looked at closely.
