I currently have a company logo but i feel like it does not represent my company well enough. The name of the company is Young PC Repair. My creative juices are not flowing and i cannot come up with a good eye catching and unique logo. I was hoping some of my fellow computer techs / business owners could throw some ideas around to help me out. If you have any ideas please reply back to this thread or email me directly c.young12145@yahoo.com . i thank you in advance for any assistance i could get.

I'm no sage fountain of wisdom, but I think you have 2 things going against you with that name.
1. People may think you're young in age rather than Young being your last name. That's may hurt your business.
2. Do you only fix PCs? Your business name sounds limiting. Think more broadly in terms of technology and computing.

Not exactly what you're asking for, but thought I'd try to be helpful. Down vote me if you will...

im not going to down vote you for your opinion. I appreciate and welcome all advice whether i agree with it or not. Like i stated before in my introduction I made this small business while stlll in college. Now i am out and i am looking to change things up. I'd like to keep the name since i already have business cards and a small following. I would be willing to change if i could think of something i feel would be an improvement while still being unique and not just like any other generic name. If you can think of anything for logo or possibly a new name im always open to suggestions. but as for your other question i mostly work on pcs as well as pretty much anything PC related.

1. Nothing wrong with having your name in the company name. But some names are more difficult to deal with than others.

2. So you are not creative. Nothing wrong with that. You know the old saying "jack of all trades, master of none". So why are you wasting your time trying to do something on your own. Get someone to do it for you. 99designs.com seem to be popular but is more expensive than other options. http://www.fiverr.com/ has also been mentioned before.

thanks for the advice. Im currently talking to some friends who do this work and seeing what they think. Then i will make a poll on my site what my customers think of a possible name change / logo contest.

I currently have a company logo...

Well, you dared to post your email, why not post a link to your current logo so we get some idea of what you have or want ? Give us some guidance as to what you like or want to convey in your ad/marketing.

my photo is pretty plain and not that exciting so bare with me and you will see why i want to change it. i made it with the idea of my business is a 1 stop cure for all the pc illnesses.

First thought; there is a lot going on there.

Think long term, if you want to get that on a business card, t-shirt/polo, a vehicle, it isn't going to scale well. People will also barely be able to see what's going on if it's on letterhead or an invoice. Something as simple as a large "Y" that is filled with circuit board designs. It would be clear, stand out and tell many people what kind of work you do.

The graphics section of fiverr is great, and you can spend 20 bucks and get 4 designs from 4 different artists an pick your favorite. You just tell them what you are looking for and what you want to get across and let them design the rest. I've been pleasantly surprised by this method several times.

I would also encourage some second thought on the name. Nothing wrong with wanting to include your name in it, but yours is unique as it can also be an adjective, so most people will associate it with a descriptor of the service. "Young Solutions" or "Young Technology" both sound like they are describing solutions and technology as young. Consider adding your first name or at least letter in front? "Cole Young PC Repair", "C. Young Solutions" etc. Solves the adjective problem :)

2 cents, and good luck!

haha no my email for work is an outlook email (youngpcrepair@outlook.com)

Thats slightly better but not by much.
get a domain name, and get a google apps or office365 plan, even use what comes with a web host.

I know plenty of businesses use generic email accounts, but I'm of the opinion that being in the IT business we need to be a model as far as business technology goes.

Not much better, really. I strongly recommend you use @yourdomain.com; It's much more professional. Using a free webmail screams "pizza tech".

So yeah, logos. Show us your current one. It's hard to comment sight unseen.

As others have said get your own domain. That stuff is cheap these days and the whole cloud thing makes it easy to use a 3rd party email provider so you can have a professional email address.

On your logo. Nothing personal. But you really should get someone who does this for a living to do yours. Put together some ideas and logos that you like and then go shopping.
