So I've done some major upgrading to my home battle-station.

currently it's all plugged in with a couple $10 surge protectors on two different circuits.

The problem is when I start "revving up" the battle station, my speakers start having some REALLY strange artifact sounds. When I turn off one of any 3 computers, it goes away. So I assume it is the power isn't "clean".

Suggestions on a better surge protector/voltage regulator? (USA 120V 20A 3-prong home wiring)

What kind of really strange sounds? That could give some really good hints about where the problem is.

There are different types of UPS technologies. The low cost ones involve standby, which actually does about as much power conditioning as a surge protector. They'll feed the AC power through the conditioning circuit and then switch over to battery when AC is lost. The next level up has better AC line conditioning, line interactive. The best are online, where the AC powers the inverter which charges the battery. Then the output from the battery passes through another inverter to create AC again. If you ever go to a large site those Liebert's you might see are that type.

Pretty much any UPS in the price range that a small business will spend is one of the first two options. Online, usually fed with at least a 3 phase, is in the $1000's to start. I think some of the low end APC's which do take 2 phase might be online but don't know for sure.
