Chrome OS

Has anyone installed Chromium OS on a clients laptop? Was there any issues after install? Just wanting to know what experiences you may have had with it. I have a client that uses her 1k dollar laptop to just play FB games and browse the web...problem is she gets infected every couple of months. I do like the consistency but I would much rather find a solution that would keep her out of my shop for more than a couple months...any suggestions...? fire away !

Messed with Chrome OS enough to know its completely useless without WiFi. If someone is always getting infected and they mostly use facebook and browse I'd install Linux either Elementary OS or Xubuntu and de done with it.

Yep sandboxie works very well. It's still nice to get a quick tuneup/cleanup which you can do in easily under 30 minutes. Then update any plugins/browsers whatever.

I have not tried anything with Chrome OS, but I would suggesting selling her an AV that works. I suggest Kaspersky Internet Security. In the last 3 years we have been selling and installing Kaspersky, we have only ever seen 1 customer come back in for a virus removal.

Great choice! My favorite Linux distro.

Or just image her system the next time you get it cleaned up.

Makes the next service calls that much easier and quicker. I wouldn't fight her if she wants to keep forking money over to you.

I do see your point in wanting to provide a real solution to the customer.
