[REQUEST] Change Windows10 x32 to x64

Hey Guys,

2 days ago i ran into a problem on site that made me crazy.

The guy wanted a new graphics card to play a little Forza and others, so i got him a 1060.
Came on site and saw that he got a x32 bit sindows10 version on his machine, so there is no x32 driver for that graphics card, only x64. I found some old x32 drivers but did not work.

Long story short, i ended up to reinstall the OS to a x64 bit version. Thankfully there was not allot to backup just a few documents. But the whole thing costs me instead of 10min, more than an hour.

But my question is:
Is there another way to get that problem solved?
Or do you guys have some thoughts about this issue?

Reinstall is the only way. Sorry.

Yeah. You can't go out and just turn a V-4 into a V-8.

Yeah but at that moment i hoped to simply do like the upgrade option to keep everything in place and thats it. But thats not working

Usually only cheap crap computers were loaded with 32bit.

Did you bill the customer for the entire time you were there?

It happens, I've had it happen with stuff customers provide, they go out and buy something with no idea what they are buying then want you to pull a Rabbit out of your hat.

I know what you mean. Started out in the 8 bit days and learned that you just can't do what appears to be intuitive. Last time I looked was back in XP.

No did not charge him because hes my mechanic and we dont charge each other, little agreement there.

But normally i would charge for it

Thanks for the thread, I actually had no idea nvidia killed 32bit driver support until I read this thread.

Never heard of it but there was actually some news about it

NVIDIA recently warned that the end was nigh for GeForce support on 32-bit operating systems, and it has now put dates to that event. It will halt GeForce GPU driver support at the end of April, meaning users will lose access to new GeForce Experience features and game ready updates. Moreover, NVIDIA will end security updates by January 2019, so continuing to use your 32-bit OS with a GeForce card beyond that date could actually put it at risk.

We have had 32 and 64 bit OS's since Vista (2006) I don't count XP x64 since it was not widely used. It seems questionable/strange in 2018 that this question actually came up on a tech member only forum.

Also I can count on one hand the number of times I have actually flipped a system from 32bit to 64 bit. 32bit systems are always low-end units.

Very true, But Google is not hiding the info either. Google can answer most questions before you even have to ask here.

Questions like that make me think you are just another end user that slipped thru the cracks.

Funny. I've been doing it the other way around!

I've been changing 64bit installs to 32bit for a local software developer here. Their software won't run on 64bit, so I've been changing them to 32bit for them until they're ready to release their 64bit version.
They load their program on a desktop and actually ship a desktop with the program preinstalled.

Ran into some issues with it because newer processors won't run on 32bit.
