I have a client that had a cctv system installed about 9 years ago, 12 cameras running, they all work fine. they wanted to add 1 more camera. i myself have only done IP cameras using POE. The dvr is pretty old but works and there is a power supply box.
The camera i ordered for them is a
Hikvision DS-2CE56D7T-VPIT
The dvr they have is a wirepath WPS-365-DVR-16CH
The power supply box is an Altronix ALTV248

its a short run to where the camera is mounted, about 40 feet. I run the line, plug it into the dvr, Then connect the power to the Power supply, NOT connecting the camera at this time. The fuse doesn't blow, I took my multi meter and tested continuity on the cable and it beeps. Don't seem like the cable is the issue. Soon as i plug in the camera it blows the fuse instantly.
I didn't take the camera and put it on another working on, i don't want to turn a small issue into a bigger one since all 12 are working. What am i doing wrong? is the Power supply to much for this camera?
Such a simple job is doing my head in, I am no electrician but i never have these kind of issues with IP POE cams at all.
