CCleaner found to have backdoor trojan

So... a 'hacker' did it? How does that work? It's a closed source program with what I would assume would be some sort of versioning control internally so how does someone hack in and make these modifications without it having been noted? I'd be leaning more towards a rouge employee.

Compromised system I would guess.

Ya, this stinks to high heaven. Here is the nitty-gritty of it all:

Looks like an inside job to me. For all we know, it's parent company Avast doing it. Less than a month after Avast acquires Piriform, this happens. How (in)convenient.
Interesting and informative read, thanks :)
I wouldn't put it past Avast doing it. I've always been wary of their products.
Looks like someone may have slipped up and they cooked up the 'hacker' story in a hurry!
Makes me wonder can we trust Defraggler, Speccy and Recuvva from now on?
And what about Avast Antivirus? Lord knows what's in that mess!

I wouldn't trust anything that company touches.
